Tornado warning in Manhattan, Kansas after 'building collapse and damage' in Marysville during sever

TORNADOES touched down in two US states on Saturday with a building collapse and damage reported during the severe storms.

Photos shared on social media show collapsed building walls, crushed cop cars, and debris-lined roads.

A tornado touched down in Marysville, Kansas earlier Saturday, resulting in officials urging people to avoid the area.

“We’re asking everyone to avoid downtown,” Marysville Police Chief Matt Simpson said.

“I know everyone will want to come out, and please give our first responders time to look and get things cleaned up.

“Know that city crews and first responders will be working throughout the evening."

There have not been any reported injuries.

Manhattan, Kansas and other parts of the state remained under a tornado warning into Saturday night.

The severe storms hit Kansas after sweeping through parts of Nebraska.

There was a confirmed tornado in Wilber, Nebraska earlier Saturday.

The twister was said to be moving southeast at 20 miles per hour and produced hail measuring more than two inches.

Residents shared photos of the giant hail on Twitter.

Some photos indicated hail up to five inches in size.

Nick Meyer of Beatrice tweeted photos of the hail, saying, "the 5 inch split when it hit the ground but there’s also a 3 inch and more big ones on my freezer."

Another resident told a local ABC affiliate: "This 5 inch hailstone broke out my windshield. It sounded like a bomb when the windshield shattered."

Parts of the Midwest, including Nebraska and Kansas, were affected by tornado and severe thunderstorm watches and warnings throughout the day.
